Yuan Xiao Jie Kuai le!!!
With our triumphant return back to Yichang City from our SE Asian excursion, I have been inspired by the arrival of our good friend Fawn to the "nearby" city of Wuhan, to consider viewing this blog again. Its about time. Im not sure how long it has been working again, but a lot has happened since the last time this was used.
Last night was the official last day of the Spring Festival, better known to the outside world as Chinese New Year. The fifth, and last day, is the celebration of "Lantern Festival." Chinese should bring red lanterns to the graves of their ancestors in honor and memory, and burn play money and leave food, so that they may be fulfilled in the afterlife. Of course, in order to wake the dead they must light the string of ever so popular firecrackers to wake the dead and remind them now is the time to come and collect.
Consequently, with the end of the Spring Festival, comes the end of legal fireworks. We are thanking our Father for that.
We actually participated in the festivities. The family that lives below us allowed us to witness their traditions and said that we should burn some money ourselves. Pretty interesting.
On another note, it is good to have Fawn here. An old friend and familiar taste of home and that sarcasm i do so enjoy.
Ill try to keep up with this and update some of the past term, our trip to SE Asia, and the holiday in the Chinese countryside.
